What a busy, active fall we are having at SEESA! Since our September reopening, SEESA is starting to fill up with activity. We are coming together again and you can feel the energy in the building!
On behalf of all of SEESA’s volunteers, I want to thank everyone who donated to the Save Our SEESA, first ever fundraising campaign (an idea that came from a SEESA member at one of our Inside Track budget information sessions).
As of December 8, you donated a total of $28,962.78 – and donations are still coming in! Thank you all! Though we targeted GivingTuesday (and wow, did the donations came through that day!), donations are needed throughout the year. You can donate online at SEESA.ca
The December 4 Christmas sale, an event that went from idea to reality in less than three weeks thanks to Avril and the team of awesome SEESA volunteers, raised an additional $2,546.75. Thank you, Quilters and Crafters, for your donation of the beautiful handmade quilts and knitted goods that made up $965.00 of that total! Thanks to all SEESA members who contributed their Christmas items.
And the Christmas joy continues with two sold out performances of the Accidental Drama Club’s Let It Show! The Melody Singers performed earlier this week as did the Very Vocal Christmas Recital group.
Tillie’s Café is seeing more groups coming in to visit and enjoy our delicious offerings. The menu changes every week and we now have gluten free pies as well as soup and sandwich and soup and biscuit specials. Check out the weekly menu.
2022 Membership Sales are now on. You can renew your membership online or at the front desk. The board chose to keep the 2022 fees at $30, which keeps SEESA in line with other Edmonton senior centres. We invite those who agreed they could pay more to donate to SEESA.
We trust that by holding the line on membership fees, we can increase our membership considerably. So please get out there and encourage your friends and neighbours to check out what SEESA offers. Go on the website and look at the new classes. Invite a friend to a class with you (drop-in fees available) or invite them to one of our FYI sessions in early 2022!
We are not out of the woods yet when it comes to our finances and the havoc that COVID caused. The 2022 budget will be provided in January 2022. The board is working on a plan and setting specific fiscal targets to meet our future needs.
For now, Merry Christmas to all. Here’s to our health and happiness in 2022.
